THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA, August 18, 2010 – Residents of The Villages in Florida are preparing to ride into history as they attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest golf car parade. The event will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the The Villages Charter School in The Villages. ATLANTA, GA, July 23, 2010 - An Army Guardsman will be reunited with the stray Afghani dogs that saved the lives of he and his fellow Guardsmen in fulfillment of A Warrior's Wish® sponsored by Hope For The Warriors® a national nonprofit organization that supports wounded U.S. service members, their families, and families of the fallen. The reunion is scheduled for Thursday, July 29 at 1 p.m. in the Pet Airways lounge at Atlanta's Dekalb Peachtree Airport.

WASHINGTON, DC, July 22, 2010 - The Usual Suspects, a local band, provided entertainment at a barbecue dinner for wounded heroes and their families that was sponsored by Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that supports wounded U.S. service members, their families, and families of the fallen. The event, held July 22 on the grounds of the Mologne House at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, provided an evening of food and fun for the combat-injured and their families living at the center while receiving rehabilitation treatment.

MONTGOMERY, AL, June 14, 2010 – BASS will host the second leg of its two-week 2010 Bassmaster Elite Series Postseason from July 26 – July 31st on the Alabama River in Montgomery, AL. The Evan Williams Bourbon Trophy Triumph will be held July 30-31st and one angler will be awarded the coveted title of 2010 Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year and the accompanying $200,000 in prize money. ARCHDALE, NC, June 28, 2010 – Two official NASCAR helmets will be auctioned off through the Bobby Labonte Foundation and ebay. One helmet will be worn by NASCAR driver Bobby Labonte on July 3rd; the other helmet will be signed by all 43 NASCAR drivers participating in the race. GREENSBORO, NC, June 3, 2010 –Two hundred miles of cycling may seem like a lot, but not when you are riding to raise funds and awareness for combat injured veterans, according to the four committed members of Team Little Guy (TLG) who will take on the challenge in next week’s ride from Fort Bragg to Jacksonville, NC. The four bicyclists, with the help of two support crew members, have collectively raised money from credit unions in both Carolinas since last fall to benefit Hope For The Warriors®. The three-day ride through five military communities is the culmination of a year-long TLG fundraising drive on behalf of the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation.

CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE SPEICHER, IRAQ, May 30, 2010 – More than 600 runners turned out for the Run For The Warriors® event aboard COB Speicher, near Tikrit Iraq on May 30, 2010. The Garrison Command, 166th Regional Support Group, out of Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico, organized the 5K and 10K event to honor injured and fallen service members on Memorial Day weekend.

LIDO BEACH, NY, June 7, 2010 – Lido Golf Club in Lido Beach, NY was the site of a fun-filled, annual golfing event and dinner. The event was created in 2002 to honor brothers and firefighters who died serving and protecting their fellow New Yorkers on 9/11. Proceeds from the day’s events benefited Hope For The Warriors® and NYC Firefighter Brotherhood Foundation.

EAST FARMINGDALE, NY, June 2, 2010 – Colonial Springs Country Club was the site of the 1st Annual Hope For The Warriors® Golf Classic held on Monday, May 24, 2010. The attendance of 140-plus golfers included elected officials; leaders within the financial, labor and construction industries; New York State Troopers, New York Fireman, and representatives from volunteer fire departments. Also joining in for a day of golf were ten wounded service members who were visiting New York City during Fleet Week and sponsored by Hope For The Warriors®, a national, nonprofit organization that supports wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen. All proceeds from the event benefited Hope For The Warriors®.

PINE KNOLL SHORES, NC, June 3, 2010 – Pine Knoll Shores will host the third annual Kayak for the Warriors event on June 12, 2010 at Garner Park. A 3.2 mile kayak and paddle-board race will begin at 10 a.m., followed at 10:30 a.m. by a shorter, Family Fun Race that is open to all paddle-worthy vessels. Registration is $40 for the 3.2 mile race and $20 for the Family Fun race; it includes a t-shirt and lunch. This year, organizers are adding non-competitive 5- and 10-mile bike events to the day’s festivities. Cyclists are encouraged to come out at 8 a.m. with their bikes decorated in support of the cause. The rides will begin at 8:30 a.m. at McNeil Park and run through Pine Knoll Shores. A $10 donation includes the registration fee and lunch.

NEW YORK, NY, June 2, 2010 – NEW YORK, NY, June 2, 2010 – Almost 150 people ran in the Inaugural Big Apple Run For The Warriors® on Sunday, May 30th to celebrate the Memorial Day weekend and to honor veterans, active-duty military and wounded heroes. The route began and ended at the NYC Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaza, then passed numerous New York landmarks throughout the 3-mile and 1-mile race course.

Lexxi Saal, a 7th grader from Deer Park, NY will sing both the National Anthem and her original song, Thank You. NEW YORK, NY, May 20, 2010 – Friends of the Vietnam Veterans Plaza will present their 6th Annual Honoree of the Year Award to Raymond W. Kelly, Police Commissioner of the City of New York. BRENTWOOD, NY, April 13, 2010 – The 4th Annual Suffolk County Stand Down will be Friday, April 23rd from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event will be held at the Health, Sports & Education Center on the Brentwood Campus of Suffolk Community College. SAN ANTONIO, TX, April 7, 2010 – Matt Bradford, a 22-year old Marine, was injured in Iraq in January 2007, losing both legs and his vision. Despite these combat injuries, Bradford’s fighting spirit remains strong and his determination constant, a fact recognized by the Marine Corps with Bradford’s recent promotion to Corporal and four-year reenlistment. Bradford’s many achievements and courage will be acknowledged with the presentation of a Hope & Courage Award to be presented at the Got Heart, Give Hope Gala to be held April 22 at Union Station in Washington, D.C.

JACKSONVILLE, NC, March 31, 2010 — Local 8th grader Katie Rochon didn’t have to look far for great ideas for her 8th grade project. Through her mom’s work with Hope For The Warriors®, Rochon has had many opportunities to see firsthand the struggles of service members rehabilitating from combat injuries. WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, NM, March 9, 2010 - Team Hope For The Warriors® will participate in the Bataan Memorial Death March on March 21, 2010. Established in 1989, the Bataan March is a grueling 26.2 mile hike through the high desert of New Mexico. Participants will march through desert terrain, deep sands, and reach elevations of 5,300 feet.

NEW YORK, NY, FEBRUARY 23, 2010 – Twenty-six survivors of the Battle of Iwo Jima gathered last Saturday night at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place, NY, to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the celebrated World War II event. The Iwo Jima Survivor’s Association teamed up with Hope For The Warriors® to host the dinner as a benefit, attracting more than 425 attendees and raising more than $30,000.

New York, NY, February 23, 2010 – Hope For The Warriors® presents Above & Beyond, a professional course developed to assist wounded service members transition into a new phase of their career by providing professional tools and one-on-one guidance. This seminar will help each participant pinpoint their strengths and discover how those strengths can be utilized in the civilian or government sectors as well as opportunities to further their education. * QUEENS, NY, November 14, 2009 — Gillian Mounsey, a personal trainer and CrossFit enthusiast from New York City, completed 100 "muscle ups" in just 35 minutes in Operation Pull For Hope to raise funds for Hope For The Warriors™. The "muscle up" is an advanced version of a pull-up done on gymnastics rings in which the motion continues until the arms are straightened and the body is above the rings. * Long Island, NY, November 23, 2009 - The Town of Babylon was filled with hope on Sunday, November 8, as 1300 participants ran, walked and rolled through the streets for the 2nd Annual Run For The Warriors™. Fifteen wounded service members were among the participants. Close to $100,000 was raised to benefit Hope For The Warriors™. "We are so grateful for the generosity of this community," stated Tina Atherall, Executive Vice President of Hope For The Warriors™. “It confirms to the wounded service members that our nation stands ready to support them as they continue on their road to recovery.”

* New York, New York - Sunday, November 1 - Hope ran through the five boroughs of New York City as team members from Team Hope For The Warriors™ ran the 26.2 miles as part of the 2009 ING New York City Marathon. Forty-six team members are pushing a goal of $200,000.

* WASHINGTON, D.C., October 25, 2009 — Marine MSgt (Ret) Carl Traub lost both legs and suffered paralysis from a severe spinal cord injury after an IED attack while serving his country in Iraq. Despite these setbacks, he continues to serve his community and his fellow injured warriors. On October 25, 2009, Traub completed all 26.2 miles of the Marine Corps Marathon in Arlington, VA on a hand cycle. More importantly, he fulfilled a promise to the many donors that sponsored him in his quest to raise funds for Team Hope For The Warriors™.

* WASHINGTON, D.C., October 25, 2009 — LCpl. Matt Bradford, a 22-year old Marine, completed the Marine Corps Marathon on a hand cycle despite Iraq war injuries that include blindness and the loss of both legs. Bradford was escorted through the course by five other Hope For The Warriors™ team members on hand cycles, four of whom are also USMC wounded warriors. The marathon was held Sunday, October 25 in Washington, DC and Virginia.

If you’re LT David Duprey, a Navy Chaplain with the Second Combat Engineer Battalion, you run a marathon. * NORTH CAROLINA, April 24-26, 2009 - Carolina Bike Rally Makes Dream A Reality For Wounded Marine, JACKSONVILLE, - The Carolina Bike Rally was held in Jacksonville, North Carolina, April 24-26. Steve Winsett, promoter of the rally and a Vietnam Veteran and fellow promoter Ron Johnson, have put the wheels in motion to make a dream come true for a wounded Marine. Corporal Zachary Fincannon, USMC, (Ret) will be attending the Carolina Bike Rally as the Guest of Honor.

* WHITE SANDS MISSILE RANGE, New Mexico, March 29, 2009 — Army Maj. A.J. Tong, a single-leg amputee and member of Team Hope for the Warriors™, completed the 26.2 mile Bataan Memorial Death March at the White Sands Missile Range on March 29, 2009 in 12 hours and 37 minutes. He completed the grueling event with the same person who had saved his life less than two years earlier, former medic and Army reservist Adam Schwartz, also of Tacoma, the first responder on the scene when Tong’s convoy encountered an IED in August 2007.

* JACKSONVILLE, NC, April 3, 2009 — Students in the Boys & Girls Club of Eastern North Carolina, Inc. after-school program at Clyde Erwin Elementary collected six boxes of food for Hope for the Warriors™ Warrior Houses.

* MOUNT HOLLY, NEW JERSEY, March 30, 2009, March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, 2009, marked the final night of the High Street Grill’s 4th Annual Long Beard Contest. The seven week fundraiser was the most successful long beard contest the restaurant has had according to restaurant owners, Nancy and John McDevitt.

* FDNY VFW Post Donates Hand-Crank Bike to Wounded Vet Matt Bradford, a Marine veteran, was seriously injured by an AED while serving in Iraq. He lost his legs below the knee, became blind in one eye and lost partial sight in the other.

DELAND, FL, February 25, 2009 — The Hope Rider, a custom tribute bike honoring America’s injured and fallen warriors, will lead the ride-in at the start of the Fifth Annual Deland Bike Rally as part of a salute to military heroes. Created for Hope for the Warriors™ as a fundraising opportunity, the bike will also compete in the DeLand Pro Am bike show and be displayed near the main stage.
